What’s in a CSA share?

Local Foods Connection’s client families receive CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares from 8 different farms located around Iowa City, Des Moines and Cedar Rapids. They receive a box of produce every week for about 20 weeks. We are a little over half-way through the season.
Here is a list of the contents of this week’s CSA share from Scattergood Friends School Farm located in West Branch.
- 18 ears of sweet corn
- 1 lb 2 oz cherry tomatoes
- 1 lb 3 oz misc tomatoes
- 7 1/4 oz swiss chard
- 2 lb 14 oz pears
- 1 lb 2 oz hot peppers
- 1 lb 10 oz broccoli (one big head)
- 2 lb yellow and white onions
- 2 lb 11 oz cabbage
- 1 lb 3 oz yellow squash
- 1 lb 4 oz cucumber (one large)
- 4 oz herbs
- 1 dozen eggs
