Donate to Local Foods Connection!

donate1LFC is supported financially by people like you! We depend on local families and businesses to donate money and services to us so that we can continue our work in providing fresh local food to low-income families. November and December are crucial fundraising months.

If you admire our work, want to support local farmers, or believe that everyone should have access to fresh, local food, please consider making a donation to us! Here are some ways your donation might be used:

$30 could pay for up to 3 cooking classes. (We offer to cover the cost of up to 2 cooking classes for each client at such locations at the New Pioneer Co-op in Iowa City to Hy-Vee in Cedar Rapids.)

$50 could cover the expenses of a group visit to the farmers market. (In addition to enrolling families in CSAs, we also take them on visits to the market so that they can learn about shopping for local food independently.)

$100 could purchase several pots and pans. (We provide opportunities for our clients to learn about nutrition, meal preparation and farming. With every educational activity they complete, they earn points. With those points, they can purchase kitchen equipment from our small kitchenware store. Everything in the store is new. We purchase items from the store and request donations from manufacturers.)

$200 could purchase two dozen cookbooks. (Each client receives a cookbook at the beginning of the growing season.)

$300 could more than cover the cost of a winter CSA share for a family or cover half the cost of a regular CSA share.

Donations can be made to us on our website through a great organization called Network for Good.

Or checks can be mailed to us at:

We are a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization, so all donations are tax-deductible.
