- "Thanks to the (Iowa City Crisis Center) food bank for recommending
us to Adopt-A-Family and thanks to AAF for accepting us. It was
wonderful getting a surprise package of fresh organic vegetables
each week. I have sensitivities to a lot of food additives so that
I often become physically ill from mainstream food. Healthy, organic
whole food can become expensive. As our family has grown it has
been increasingly challenging to supply them with a wide range of
fruits and vegetables.
This year, thanks to Adopt-A-Family, my children could feast on
the earths harvest to their hearts content. We like experimenting
with new recipes and enjoyed the ones weve tried so far and look
forward to trying more of them. In addition, somehow, after over
a year of not having an oven, we were presented with a new stove.
I have five children. We love to cook and bake bread and have been
baking bread as a family project four times since last week when
the stove came. You have helped us to enjoy our house more, as well
as to feel more a part of the community instead of being considered
those weirdo health freaks. It has made a big difference in our
physical and spiritual health."
- "My family and I were blessed to participated in the Adopt-A-Family
program. We appreciated the fact that food was delivered on time.
Every Wednesday, I received my share at the same time. We all enjoyed
the farm. My children have nice memories and talk about the farm
when there is a chance.
Being an Adopt-A-Family was a blessing for us; my family and I say
THANK YOU. Everyone of my five children made a special dishes from
American hamburger with tomatoes, lettuce and what have you, to
African cooked vegetable with peanut butter, palm oil, etc The program
is great and we really say THANK YOU."
