NNote: Adopt-A-Family is the previous name of Local Foods Connection

Thank you for being a member of Adopt-A-Family! This is our most successful year so far. We became a state certified nonprofit organization, and we raised more money than ever before. Learn about our adopted families and our membership in this newsletter.

Our Adopted Families
The Klein Family has joined Adopt-A-Family for a second year. Bette and David Klein are the parents of nine children, seven of whom are adopted. This season, Adopt-A-Family paid for their membership to Local Harvest CSA. The membership includes a full vegetable share. Here is how Bette describes her family:

"We are a close knit group of family members from differing birth backgrounds, joined together by Love. We seek to meet the needs of all our family members while continuing to give back to God for all he has blessed us with."

A second, new family, whose last name is being kept anonymous for the present, also received a membership to Local Harvest CSA and a full vegetable share. Norma contributes this family portrayal to our newsletter:

"I am a single parent with two great children. We have always lived in the City. Growing up I was able to visit a farm a few times, but I'm sad to say my children have not had that same opportunity. We are looking forward to working at and visiting one of the farms."

Thank You
Adopt-A-Family recognized the following families for their generous contributions:

We have $42.07 to spend on this season and save for next season.

What's In The Box
Local Harvest CSA has prepared some wonderful boxes of vegetables for its members this year! The delicious organic produce included in the share during this bountiful season include: spinach, lettuce, peas, bean, radishes, turnips, eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes, garlic, squash, parsley, cucumbers, corn (not organic), beets, peppers, broccoli, onions, carrots and cabbage.

We thank the Zacharakis-Jutz Family (vegetable farmers for Local Harvest CSA) for their hard work in the field and their dedication to organic agriculture.
